I received an email this morning from VOX indicating that their services would be ending, and my blog site holder, would be closing on 9/30/10. I sat for a minute, knowing full well that I haven't even glanced at my blog for over a year and trying to decide what I would do. Hmmm, let my blog, my ramblings disappear into cyber space for antiquity??? Or move it on over to typepad....and then it donned on me- I think you need to PAY for those blogs...but wait, free?! And, being a huge sucker for any bargain (and, you know, also wanting to maintain the ramblings that I have created over the years) I began the process to transfer everything over. So welcome: to the new typepad home.
I would think it somewhat slightly unfair to to just ignore all the wonderfulness that happened in the past year of my life, given that my last post was just shy of the incredible event: My 30th year. So in short, I'll try to update (in my classic list style) what happened. I had a great time and now that I'm sitting firmly in my 31 year, I can be really proud of the changes I made for myself:
July '09: Birthday. The Bouncy House party continues to be the talk of the block, leading my sister to host several bounce-house parties since as well as being the topic of lunchtime discussion several times a month still....and maybe forever
Shoot...I was going to go month by month...but I can't really remember! :P OOPS. So I'll cut to the big stuff...
October-ish: Remember the Pig Flu? Yeah. I had it. Out sick for an entire week plus stopped all things running in its tracks. Still trying to get back to it.
Thanksgiving: non-traditional. My friend Kim and I drove up to the natural hot springs, bubbled away and then ate left overs at another friend's home.
Christmas: Home to NY-- Spent a few nights at my dad's home which was a great opportunity for us to have some extended time together. Also love having some time with my little step-bro and sister at my mom's home.
BEST: MARCH! Finally took that dream vacation to Europe! During the fall I made the decision to go and told family and friends about it: I'm going, you can come if you want. As time went on....no one wanted to go..or if they did, they had reasons why the couldn't go (cost, time, babies, etc). I tried hard to talk my dad into going with me, but all he would come up with is "WHY Belgium?!" And then one day out of the blue I got an email from Anya saying something to the effect of "where you serious about inviting me? I hope so, I'm coming" So then Anya was on board and then...As if there was a bigger plan in the universe, Dina had a work conference scheduled in Germany the week prior to our expected travel dates---so she was going to join us! (interestingly, the week prior to the trip Dina's conference was cancelled, but she was still able to go) So the trip went LA to PGH to London to Amsterdam to Brugge to Brussels to PGH to LA....in 16 days. Maybe some other time I'll expand on it. It was incredible.
April/May: I presented at AOTA--my profession's annual nation-wide conference. An incredible honor and a ton of work. :)
Mid June: I'm an aunt! Dina (above, met us in Europe...pregnant) gave birth to Abi...I can't wait to get over to VA to visit and in the meantime I've been able to skype with her mom and dad.... Love.
Late June: I moved!!! Something that I had been wanting to do since I moved into my last place. I have a new home. A wonderful home.... (Ok, I rent a duplex) but I love it. It is amazing how much our home can change our outlook on life. The last place had yucky energy...thats all I have to say about that.
Given the move: I've gotten back into sewing (also given BABIES! to sew for) with my new huge table and space to spread out in.
July: Turned 31. :) Oh what a year 30 was!
